September 2009 Post 52 Newsletter

This newsletter is meant to bring the members up to date info on the happenings of the Post.  We have had a good few months, where the Post has sent 12 Juniors from Easley High School to Boys State.  The Ladies Auxiliary also sent 4 girls to Girls State.  The Post also had a 4th of July picnic social for members and the American Legion Seniors residents.  We have also had an awards baseball banquet for the baseball team that our post sponsors.

The Post has been given a 172 member goal for the 2010 membership Year, which has been the goal for the past three years.  We finished the 2009 year with 159 members and we are in the ballpark to either do that again or exceed that total.  It will take the work of all of our members, by renewing their membership and recruiting new members, so please do all you can to help attain our goal.

Now for upcoming events.

On the 22nd of September the Post will host the Boys and Girl State attendees.

Then on the 3rd of October there will be an election for the Pickens County Veterans Affairs Officer, with the voting to be held at different locations.  Our Post has a candidate seeking this office and his name is Gary Hullinger.  Gary is a well qualified individual who is actively asking for your vote and the Post supports him.

Then in November the Post will work together with Robinson's Funeral Home to have the Veterans Day ceremony at Robinson's Memorial Garden on November 11th.  We will need the help of as many members that can participate to help make this a success.  This function has been well attended the past few years and is a credit to the Post and community.
